Police seeking Quincy shooting suspect
QUINCY — Authorities are continuing to search for a 20-year-old Quincy man wanted for allegedly shooting a man multiple times in an orchard near Quincy Friday morning.
Police have been looking for Arnoldo Cazares Mendoza since he allegedly shot a man multiple times in the stomach about 7:30 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim, who has not been identified, was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was reportedly talking to responders when they arrived at the blueberry orchard in the 20300 block of state Route 28, two miles west of Quincy. His condition is unknown at this time.
The Columbia Basin Investigative Team has been called in and are still investigating the crime scene.
A State Patrol airplane and Border Patrol helicopter have been circling an orchard in the area of Roads 9 and U Northwest, where Mendoza’s truck was found abandoned. Douglas County tracking dogs were also used in the orchard.
Multiple witnesses working in the orchard reported seeing Mendoza shoot the victim in the orchard, according to the sheriff’s office. Mendoza allegedly fled the scene in his truck following the incident.
Law enforcement have also check Mendoza’s residence on L Street Northwest in Quincy but did not locate him.
Officers are currently searching several places where Mendoza may have gone, according to the sheriff’s office. The relationship between Mendoza and the victim is unclear at this time.
Anyone with information on Mendoza’s whereabouts is advised to call 911. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Mendoza is described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans.
