| July 16, 2013 9:45 AM

MOSES LAKE - Ducks Unlimited will meet tonight to welcome new area chairpersons, Pat and Karie Hochstatter, of Moses Lake, and to discuss ongoing business and an October dinner fundraiser.

The Hochstatters are long time local business owners and known for their work ethic and dedication to hunting and wildlife conservation, noted David Helms, district chairman of Ducks Unlimited.

Ducks Unlimited conserved more than 63,000 acres in Washington state and spent more than $60 million here, according to a prepared statement by the organization. The program was founded in 1937 and known best for their wetland conservation. More than 600 species of fish, mammals, songbirds and migratory waterfowl use Ducks Unlimited projects.

The meeting is 6 p.m. at the Cascade Valley Fire Station. New volunteers are welcome to help with fundraising and other local projects. For more information, call (509) 765-0254.
