Quincy drug dealer pleads guilty

EPHRATA - A Quincy man is going to prison for selling marijuana and possessing firearms.

Luis C. Perez, 26, pled guilty recently to possession with intent to manufacture and deliver marijuana and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Perez was sentenced to 1 year for the drug charge and 2 years and 6 months for the gun charge, according to court documents.

Perez has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2003 that includes hit and run and burglary convictions amongst others.

The investigation into Perez began in October 2012 when Grant County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) had a confidential informant buy drugs from a different dealer in Quincy who took the informant to Perez's residence on B Street.

According to court documents, the investigation resumed in March 2013 when a different informant bought marijuana from Perez. Another time the informant bought drugs from Perez he reported to INET that he observed Perez with a hand gun.

A search warrant was served in late April at the residence on B Street and Perez was taken into custody.

Perez reportedly told INET that he had a medical marijuana prescription, he was growing marijuana and he possessed about an ounce.

Detectives found a Jennings' .22 caliber pistol inside the residence.

A total of 56 grams of marijuana, packaging material, ammunition, growing equipment, seven marijuana plants, a police scanner and a digital scale were also seized during the search.

When Perez was searched, $285 was found and an additional $51 was found in his wallet.

Two vehicles at the home were searched and $3704 in suitcase was found in one while a second hand gun was found in the other vehicle.

He was arrested and taken to Grant County Jail.
