Columbia Basin River Dogs third in Spokane

SPOKANE - The Columbia Basin River Dogs went 3-1 in pool play at Whitworth College over the weekend to finish third out of 10 teams that entered the competition. Toyota from Seattle took first. Mt. View from Boise placed second.

The River Dogs (32-9) are back on the diamond this weekend for the Firecracker Tournament at Parker Stadium and Davis High School in Yakima. The team is expected to play five games. They open pool play with a single game against Walla Walla at 10 a.m. Thursday, then take on the Seattle Rainiers at 2 p.m. The River Dogs are scheduled to play Pepsi Pak from Yakima Friday. Their remaining opponents are yet to be determined. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
