The Port of Royal Slope (Grant County Port District #2) has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (WAC Chapter 197-11) for the following project: Royal Slope Railroad Maintenance Project.

Determination of Non-Significance

The Port of Royal Slope (Grant County Port District #2) has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) under the State Environmental Policy Act Rules (WAC Chapter 197-11) for the following project: Royal Slope Railroad Maintenance Project. This project is for doing routine maintenance on the rail so rail service can be restored. This consists of replacing approximately 2,000 railroad ties, adding approximately 785 tons of ballast where needed, removing rock & debris and doing weed control all within the railroad right of way. The Royal Slope Railroad runs from approximately 2000 block of Moon Road, Othello westerly approximately 20 miles along the north side of Saddle Mountain to the junction of Crab Creek Road and Road E SW; then goes northerly for approximately 6 miles to the industrial parks at Royal City.

After reviewing the completed Environmental Checklist, the Port Commissioners for the Port of Royal Slope have determined that his proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment.

The public is invited to comment on this DNS by submitting written comments to Cathy Potter, Executive Director at the Port of Royal Slope; PO Box 147; 4975 Road 13.5 SW; Royal City, WA 99357 no later than 4:00 p.m. February 25, 2013.
