The federal government's (lack of) thinking regarding gun control
No law has ever prevented a person with evil intent from committing murder, assaults, theft, or any other crime. People were murdered long before firearms were invented. Guns are inanimate objects, capable of being used for both defense as well as evil acts.
"Weapon Free Zones" do not prevent crimes. How long before drug cartel bosses decide that they can "send a message" by killing school children in a town that has strict law enforcement or people who are "legally" selling marijuana? All those "Fast and Furious" weapons supplied by our Federal Government could be used. What if the shooter is a foreign trained "terrorist" that has illegally crossed our border?
The so-called "assault weapon" is used in very few murders, but one with a high capacity magazine is very useful to ranchers protecting livestock against wolves and feral dogs. They are useful to shop owners protecting their property against looters during riots.
What the Federal Government will not discuss is the relationship regarding violence and the removal of all teaching of morality in public schools. When our country was founded, the Holy Bible was used in public schools to teach not only historical information, but also the moral values common to Christian, Jewish, Moslem, and many other religions. Any person who objects to the teaching of moral values is a person without moral values. Any person who does not recognize that they will be held accountable by their Creator is a person who cannot be trusted.
Only corrupt government officials want a disarmed public because they fear that a well-armed public can peacefully defend their God-given unalienable rights to free speech, peaceful assembly, fair elections, life, liberty and property.
