Quincy man charged in stabbing case

EPHRATA - A Quincy man allegedly told police he was crazy when he stabbed his house mate in the shoulder and head.
Prosecutors charged Rafael C. Gamboa, 22, with first-degree assault in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.
Grant County Superior Court Judge John Antosz set Gamboa's bail at $75,000.
The victim was lying in bed on Jan. 12 in a Central Avenue home he shared with Gamboa and Gamboa's brother, when he felt something hitting him, according to a Quincy police report. He reportedly saw Gamboa standing over him with a large kitchen knife, and stabbing him in the head and shoulder.
Police contacted the victim at Quincy Valley Medical Center where he was being treated for a wound to his ear and one above his right eyebrow, according to the police report. The victim also had a wound to his shoulder.
After the incident, Gamboa allegedly called the Grant County Mental Health Crisis Line, telling the counselor "something bad had happened," and "Rafael was feeling crazy," according to the police report. Gamboa allegedly admitting to the stabbing, saying he went crazy and did it for no reason.
