Royal girls drop two contests

| January 22, 2013 5:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - Royal High's brutal girls basketball season continued last weekend with two South Central A Conference East basketball games in which they were unable to score in double figures in any quarter.

On Friday it was Warden taking the measure of the Knights, 52-12. On Saturday the Knights fell, 66-24 to Kiona-Benton.

"We gave away too many second chance opportunities to Warden," coach Phil Daubel said. "We have to limit teams to one shot.

Against Ki-Be, Daubel was encouraged by the first half, when his girls put down 17 points. They cooled off to seven after intermission.

"We are still trying to put together 32 minutes, and I feel it coming," Daubel said.

Flor Araujo led the scoring both nights. She made six points against Warden and 12 against Ki-Be. Jacky Guadarrama had four points against the Bears.
