WARDEN - The chance to represent Warden at various events this year is up for grabs.

Organizers of the Miss Warden Pageant are looking for interested candidates to compete for the 2013 title.

Interested applicants have until Feb. 1 to turn in their applications, said pageant coordinator Kayla Kight.

Five candidates competed in last year's Miss Warden competition. Isabelle Wilkinson, of Warden, won the 2012 title.

The contest is open to students in grades nine through 12. Candidates must have a GPA of 2.0 or better, and must not have missed more than 10 days of school per semester.

Candidates need their parent's support and permission in order to participate in the pageant. Smoking and alcohol or drug use is not permitted, according to organizers.

In addition, candidates can not be married, have children or be pregnant.

Kight said candidates must be available for this year's parade season, which runs roughly between May and November. Kight said Miss Warden will be responsible for representing the city at various parades, fairs and other special events.

This year's Miss Warden pageant will be held on at 7 p.m., March 16 at Warden Elementary School, said Kight.

Applications are available at Warden Elementary School at 101 Beck Way. Interested applicants can also call 509-760-7823 or 509-989-3490.
