Student advocates for skate park

| January 18, 2013 5:00 AM

I skate a lot. I've also moved a lot and see many different skate parks. Comparing our skate park here to other parks, I think it's time we need to give it a makeover. Normal, good parks (for the most part) are dugout. The ramps are OK, but I think we could improve it if we dug it out. The seams on the ramps right now are rough (though they are good enough to ride on), so why don't we just get rid of seams all together and do a dug out park? It's obvious right now that the park needs more rides, it has a lot of room to grow; we could 'grow' it right now and instead of adding in new rides, we could keep some old ones, dig it out, and replace them in the dugout (this would not work for all of them, e.g. the half pipes, the huge ramp..). This would attract more skaters and improve the park by a lot. And if it is decided that the skate park would just stay the same, at least put in more rides. Right now the park needs growth. It needs more rides and more rails; it has a lot of room to add stuff. Please take this into consideration. Thank you.
