MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Christian Academy (MLCA) boys basketball took one on the chin Tuesday night as the Lions were knocked off at home by Soap Lake, 43-32.

The loss dropped the Lions to 5-1 in league play and 6-4 overall.

"This was just not an MLCA effort on our part," coach Duke Wood said. "We played as if we where stuck in quicksand both offensively and defensively."

The Lions got off to a slow start, scoring just 8 first quarter points. The Eagles didn't fare much better as Soap Lake held a slim 9-8 lead.

The Eagles hung 18 points on the board to MLCA's 11 to stretch the score to 27-17 at intermission.

Down by 10 heading into the second half of action, the Lions still had a chance to pull out the win. But Soap Lake had another thing in mind as the Eagles out scored MLCA 16-15 to steal a game on the road.

"We just flat out were not ready to play tonight ... how we were only down by 7 points early in the fourth quarter is amazing with the way we played," Wood said. "We gave up 13 offensive rebounds, shot 2-of-17 from behind the arch and committed 17 turnovers. But I will make sure we are ready for Friday night at Mansfield. We still have many games left on the schedule, and we will fix the things that need to be fixed, and pick up some more wins. "

Miller Wang led the way for the Lions with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

MLCA is home Saturday when the team takes on Waterville at 7:30 p.m.
