The Board of Supervisors for Grant County Conservation District has one elected position available.

DISTRICT SUPERVISOR ELECTION

The Board of Supervisors for Grant County Conservation District has one elected position available. This position is unpaid, volunteer three-year term ending in 2016 with an average time commitment of 3-10 hours per month. The position is open to anyone who is a land owner/registered voter within the Grant County Conservation District boundaries.

The election to fill the elected position will be held on March 12, 2013 at two locations: USDA Office, 2145 Basin ST SW, Ephrata, WA 98823, from 8:00 AM to Noon and at the Grant County Conservation District, 170 N Broadway, Othello, WA 99344 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. All land owners/registered voters residing within the Grant County Conservation District are eligible to vote. Absentee ballots are available upon request for eligible voters, but must be requested on or before 5:00 PM on February 26, 2013. Board members and associate supervisors direct the district’s focus and work. This includes working with staff on district business as well as developing the district’s mission statement and plant to achieve it. The district works with youth, agencies, industry and most importantly farmers to accomplish conservation of natural resources. The current program emphasizes water and air quality issues, soil loss, education, and youth activities. All district meetings are open to the public.

Applications may be picked up at Grant County Conservation District office: 170 N Broadway, Othello, WA 99344 by February 12, 2013 at 5:00 PM. An application may be requested by calling the Washington State Conservation Commission at 360-407-6202.

Conservation Districts of Washington State are governed by RCW 89.08.
