Garcia's 17 not enough as Wahluke girls fall to Warden, 62-28

MATTAWA - Marleny Garcia scored 15 points in the first half, but that wasn't nearly enough to lead her Wahluke Warriors to victory in their final prep basketball game before Christmas.

Warden had just too much offense for the Warriors and raced to a 62-28 triumph on the Warden floor.

"From the beginning of the game Warden was mentally ready to play, and we were not," Warrior coach Jeff Ahmann said.

Warden jumped out to an early lead and pulled away for the rest of the game. The Warriors even put a lid on Garcia in the second half.

Garcia was one of her team's few bright spots. She finished with more than half of her team's production with 17 points.

"We have to want to play our best every time we step on the floor," Ahmann said. "Just coming to play is not enough against any team."
