Two from Ephrata hurt in 2-car crash
SOAP LAKE – The driver of one car and a passenger in another were hurt in an afternoon crash of two cars one mile south of Soap Lake on Feb. 18.
The collision occurred at around 3 p.m. in the intersection of Highway 28 and Road 19 NW. Several persons were involved. No alcohol or drugs were involved, the Washington State Patrol said.
The injured included Dora Coreas Guzman, 50, of Ephrata. She was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV 4. She was wearing proper restraints. She was taken to Columbia Valley Hospital, and the car was impounded.
The other injured individual was Donna L. Ward, 70, of Ephrata. She was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Expedition and was wearing proper restraints. She was taken to Columbia Valley Hospital.
The driver of the Expedition was Leroy A. Ward, 67, of Ephrata. He was properly restrained and was not injured. The car was impounded.
There were four other passengers in the RAV 4, all of Ephrata. They were Juan A. Ortega, 19; Anna M. Ortega, 40; Cesia Ortega, 8; and Axa C. Ortega, 3. All except the three-year-old were properly restrained.
According to the WSP, the RAV 4 was southbound on road 19 NW at a stop sign. The Expedition was eastbound on Highway 28.
The RAV 4 pulled out into the path of the Expedition, and the vehicles collided in the intersection. The RAV 4 ended up on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 28. The Expedition came to rest on the northbound shoulder of Road 19 NW.
