BBCC Runnin' Vikes race past Knights

MOSES LAKE - The Runnin' Vikes had little trouble dispatching the Knights from Wenatchee Valley Community College (WVCC) last night as Big Bend Community College (BBCC) dominated the contest 86-59 to win its 24th game of the season.

The Knights got out to a 7-4 lead to start the game, but BBCC answered back with a 19-2 run to open things up for the home team, 23-9.

WVCC got within 9 points, 30-21 with six minutes to go in the half. Both teams cooled off over the next three minutes, but the Runnin' Vikes heated up in the final 90 seconds to take a comfortable 44-31 lead into the locker room at the break.

The second half was all BBCC as the Runnin' Vikes rained 3-point buckets to race out to a 79-49 score with six and a half minutes to go.

With the game in control, coach Mark Poth was able to rest his starters and give the sub's some game-time experience as the team cruised to victory.

Kamen McCullough led the offensive attack for BBCC with 20 points. Brendan Westendorf added 17, and Trevor Johnson and Kyle Nield finished with 16 each.

The Runnin' Vikes are back in action March 2 when the team heads to Kennewick for the first round of the NWAACC postseason tournament at the Toyota Center.
