ROYAL CITY - Royal School District patrons who favored an $8.75 million school construction bond are likely to be disappointed when the counting is completed on Feb. 26 and the recent election is certified.

The most recent activity (Feb. 13)) on the Grant County Auditor website regarding the measure had it losing. And the estimated number of votes left to count was 10. There was no explanation of "estimated."

However, the website stated: "The 'Estimated Ballots Left to Count' does not include ballots that may continue to be received in the mail with a postmark on or before election day or ballots with signature issues that must be corrected before they can be counted."

There was also no explanation of how signature issues may be corrected.

Assuming the estimated 10 remaining votes are the only remaining votes, and they all are yes votes, the yes total would rise to 569. That would bring the percentage of yes votes to 59.70619 percent. Sixty percent is needed for passage.

The total votes on Feb. 13 were 943. The yes votes were 559. The percentage in favor was 57.86.
