2 men injured, horse killed in car crash

QUINCY — Two people were injured Monday morning after the vehicle they were in struck a horse on state Route 281 just south of Quincy. The horse died at the scene.

About 2 a.m., a 1992 Acura Vigor heading south on state Route 281 hit the horse, according to the State Patrol. Three horses reportedly strayed from a nearby field to the road.

The driver, Erik Angel, 22, and Pablo Martinez, 29, of Quincy, were transported to Quincy Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.

Gerardo A. Vasquez, age unknown, from Quincy, was also transported to the hospital for precautionary measures, according to a report from the State Patrol. The cause of the accident and any recommended charges are pending.
