Slipshod next at George CoffeeHouse
GEORGE – Slipshod, the duo of Matt Snook and Steve Blanchard, is next up in the George CoffeeHouse bluegrass concert series, set for Saturday, Feb. 23.
“Both of these guys are seasoned musicians from the northwest bluegrass and acoustic roots scene, and they're coming to the George Community Hall to entertain you with their music and humor,” GCH Director Debby Kooy said.
Snook plays dobro and banjo, while Blanchard is best known (around here, anyway) as the lead guitarist for Prairie Flyer. They sing songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Norman Blake, Tim O’Brien and many other acoustic artists, as well as their own original tunes.
“Their music is diverse, dynamic and exciting,” Kooy said. “This concert is certain to take you back in time, and then bring you back home again.”
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The show will start at 7 p.m.
In other George Community Hall news, the First Friday Jam for March will be on the second Friday. The change was made to accommodate a change in the date for Wintergrass.
Friday, March 8, will be the date for the First Friday Jam for the month of March. In April, The GCH will resume the normal first-Friday-of-the-month schedule (April 5).
As usual, there will be a potluck at 6 p.m. Jamming will start at 7 p.m. and go until 9 p.m., or whenever fingers and voices quit.
“Anyone with an instrument can come and play, and anyone with ears can come and listen – free,” Kooy said.
