Regarding "Gun Violence" - I noticed this Sunday morning that Rev. Jesse Jackson was campaigning against "gun violence." I find it extremely unfortunate that he (as a national-level voice) is not screaming about the underlying problem. The problem is not an inanimate object, but is within the mind of the person holding that object.

Our public education system, courts, and national news media have been on a campaign for several decades to remove all teaching of morality, religion, and virtue from society. The government seems to be most interested in having people dependent upon it, rather than taking responsibility for their own lives and actions. Congress and State legislatures pass laws that infringe upon the ability of "law abiding" citizens to protect themselves; while court systems pass out "hand slap" sentences to people who commit violent felonies.

Guns are not the problem! The lack of morality, combined with the failure of government to identify and remove those people who are a threat to the law abiding citizens, is the problem.

I don't have the physical strength, agility, and training of Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal. I may well need he immediate ability to defend myself if I am approached by a single person, or group, carrying either baseball bats, ire irons, or knives. My ability to defend myself, given my age, is less dependent upon physical strength, and more on my intelligence (as well as what I lawfully carry). Note: magazine capacity is important if you are facing multiple threats. As I have previously written, I have been very fortunate with respect to more than one serious threat to both my safety, and that of another person, during my lifetime.

Isn't it interesting that Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Chicago has some of the worst violence?
