Electoral College remains in stasis

Regarding one reader's urging to reexamine the Electoral College and the way it functions in our system of voting, I agree with her statements. But this is not a new dilemma.

I am 62 years old. My father wrote speeches for President Kennedy, worked in the Pentagon, was the USRepresentative at NATO for several years, and maintained an active military/government involvement throughout his life, until retirement.

There is not a time that I can remember that he didn't complain about the Electoral College, and the need for restructuring. For the better part of 62 years I have listened to my father (when he was alive), and to the general public voice concerns on this subject. Once again there is a "but"... This subject inevitably arises at every presidential election, regardless of the party that wins. And then it subsides, then disappears - until the next election. As it was so aptly stated after 9/11 - the United States is a nation that forgets.

Perhaps the up and coming generation will see the need to revise the Electoral College. Really? I think not!
