17 Moses Lake businesses pass liquor compliance checks
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake police and Washington State Liquor Board found only two Moses Lake business non-compliant with state liquor sales laws.
A total of 19 Moses Lake businesses were recently checked for compliance. All but two businesses passed the check.
Moses Lake police teamed up during an undercover effort to ensure local businesses were properly checking identification prior to liquor sales, according to Police Chief Dean Mitchell.
The names of the non-compliant businesses were not released. Mitchell said an employee at each of the businesses was cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor, which is a misdemeanor. The liquor control board takes any administrative action against the business.
“As a member of the Moses Lake Prevention Coalition, we have taken a stance against underage drinking in our community,” Mitchell stated Thursday.
Businesses in violation of liquor sales laws can be issued a violation in the form of a fine, temporary license suspension or both, according to the liquor control board website. Repeat violations can result in a liquor license being revoked.
“The Moses Lake Police Department will continue to enforce all underage drinking and DUI laws,” Mitchell stated.
Anyone suspecting a violation is asked to contact the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-762-1160.
