Alice J. Harwood, 94, a Moses Lake resident since 1949 passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 after a short stay at Crystal Springs Adult Family Home in Moses Lake. Private graveside services will be held at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L N.E., Moses Lake, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.

Alice was born on April 11, 1918 in Spokane, Wash., daughter of the late Henry and May (Comstock) Sprague. She was married to Eugene W. Harwood and they have made their home in Moses Lake since 1949.

Alice was an avid reader, cook and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Because of her love for reading, Alice served many years on the North Central Regional Library Board. Alice and Gene enjoyed square dancing for many years and traveled extensively with their motorhome. Alice was the Grant County Fair Superintendent for Arts and Crafts for several years, loved playing the piano, sewing, collecting cookbooks and trying new recipes. Alice was also a member of Eastern Star and the O'Sullivan Grange.

Alice is survived by her husband of 72 years, Eugene Harwood, Moses Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Allan Robel, Moses Lake and Janice and Ric Timm, Okanogan; four grandchildren and their spouses, Pam Robel, Annie (Nathan) LaFrance, Amanda Timm and Matthew (Jill) Timm; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Popelier, Turner Timm, Tenley Timm, Gunner LaFrance and Hunter LaFrance.
