To the "Rulers" of the United States

I pray that neither you, your spouse, your children, grandchildren, nor the good citizens that elected you encounter the situation that I had many years ago. Three years of high school ROTC training made me recognize that a person's only protection is directly in their own hands at the time it is needed!

We were on a rural road at night after a date. Two cars attempted to stop us; perhaps to steal my car, or perhaps much worse. They boxed my car prior to the lead car's driver stopping his car. He jumped out and ran into the road trying to stop me.

My ROTC training made me recognize why I should have had a 1911 auto on my belt. Instead, I hit the accelerator and horn. I missed the idiot by only a few inches as I steered around him. The two ton Buick was our only protection.

I might not be writing this letter if the idiot had completely blocked the road considering that I was "unarmed." The years since have more than proved that defense may be needed not only against evil people, but also against vicious animals.

No law has ever stopped an evil person! "Gun laws" that keep weapons out of the hands of felons and the mentally ill may help, but the Right of Self-Protection cannot be compromised! The Right to Bear Arms is fundamental to the protection of both people and a lawful government. Only corrupt government officials want a disarmed public because they fear that a well-armed public can peacefully defend their God-given unalienable rights to free speech, peaceful assembly, fair elections, Life, Liberty and Property.

I fear corrupt politicians more than I fear weapons.
