EPHRATA - Two people from Quincy were hurt in the early morning hours of Dec. 14 when the car they occupied crashed about seven miles south of Ephrata on Highway 17.

The accident occurred at about 3:28 a.m., after Elba Ruvalcava-Nuñez, 50, of Quincy, driver of the vehicle, lost control. Neither alcohol nor drugs were involved, the Washington State Patrol said.

Ruvalcaba-Nuñez was northbound in a 1990 Chevy Blazer. The car left the roadway to the right, rolled and came to rest on its wheels off the roadway.

She was wearing her seat belt but was injured. She was transported by ambulance to Columbia Basin Hospital. The Blazer was removed by Randy's Towing of Ephrata.

Also injured was passenger Yuliana Contreras-Hernandez, 28, of Quincy. She, too, was using her seat belt. She was taken to CBH.
