MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Parks and Recreation department will host a New Year's Eve party for teens, from sixth graders through high school seniors, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday at Larson Recreation Center, 610 South Yakima St.

Advance registration is requested. Teens can register at the rec center, and kids who register by 8 p.m. Friday will pay $10 per person. After Friday, admission is $15 per person.

The ice rink will be open (there will be skates for rent as well), and the batting cages will be open for unlimited use, according to a press release from parks and rec. Participants will have access to the pool table, air hockey and foosball, video games, the computer lab and other activities. The night also includes pizza and music.

The new year will bring New Year's resolutions, and one of the most common is getting in shape. Parks and rec is offering a class to really get fit, Monday and Wednesday from Jan. 6 through March 12. Class will meet from 5:15 to 6:15 a.m. at the Chief Moses Middle School gym.

It's called "Boot Camp" and it's designed to be as challenging as participants want it to be. Weight lifting, sprints, lunges, pushups and agility moves will be among the options. "Challenging yet fun exercises make up our circuits," the press release said.

Cost is $160 for the 20 classes. Allison Russell is the instructor.

The class is for people age 18 and older. People can register at the parks and rec office, 411 South Balsam St., or can call 509-764-3805.
