Covey answers letter claim

| December 20, 2013 5:00 AM

Dear CBH Readers: I have always said that if I make a mistake I'll be the first to admit it. In my political ad campaign, both Mr Anderson and Mr Skaug pointed out my error in stating that the algae bloom had been eliminated. I misstated that information due to a misunderstanding on my part. I should have said that the Eurasian Water Milfoil had been essentially eliminated by the herbicide treatment program.

In Mr Skaug's political ad, he said we needed to work with the Bureau of Reclamation to improve the water quality of the lake. The facts are that the Bureau has never shown any interest in this area of endeavor. We do, however, work with the Department of Ecology and the Department of Fish and Wildlife to address issues affecting our lake.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ratepayers who supported my bid for re-election. I look forward to serving you as your director at MLIRD for another 3 years.
