CBH welcomes new Olympia-based intern

MOSES LAKE - Washington State University student Leilani Leach will be providing the Columbia Basin Herald coverage from Olympia this legislative session through the school's Murrow News Service.

Leach, who is studying digital technology and journalism at WSU, will gain writing experiencing during her joint internship for the Columbia Basin Herald and Wenatchee World. Her stories will be tailored for each publication.

She will work from an office at The Olympian newspaper in Olympia.

Leach is entering what hopes to be her last semester at WSU and has worked as a news editor and editor-in-chief for the campus newspaper, the Daily Evergreen.

She hopes to soak up as much information as possible during her internship.

"I kind of want to learn everything," Leach said. "Which is why I kind of fell in love with journalism. It's just constantly meeting people and learning new things."

Leach hopes she will be able to gather some writing samples so in the future she can find a job and move out of her parents' house.
