BBCC blows out South Puget Sound

OLYMPIA - Despite being shorthanded with only eight players, Big Bend Community College came away with a resounding 75-28 win against South Puget Sound Community College Tuesday.
The win improves the Vikings' record to 5-2.
Sophomore forward Jessica Sorenson recorded a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds. She also added one block, one assist and three steals. Guards sophomore Cristina Marlatt and freshman Aubrie Vale reached double figures as well with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Vale had a well-rounded game leading the Vikings with nine assists and grabbing seven rebounds, second most on the team.
Big Bend was able to overcome a cold shooting night from behind the three-point line, a staple of its offense. The team was 0/12 in the first half from downtown and finished the game only 3/23 from behind the arc, good for 13 percent.
However, the team was able to stretch a 13-point lead at half to 47 points by shooting just under 53 percent from the field in the second half while holding the Clippers to just six made baskets in that same period.
The Vikings also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Clippers 57-29 for the game.
Big Bend returns home Jan. 8 to start Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges East region play against Yakima Valley.
