MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake softball's star catcher Tressa Radach is moving from the Columbia Basin Big 9 to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).

Tressa recently signed her letter of intent to play softball at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. When the time finally came to put pen to paper, Tressa felt a strong sense of relief.

"It was really stressful just like waiting and waiting for a long time to see if you'd get an offer and then it all just finally happened basically," she said.

Tressa will join a Mountain Lions team that finished 26-20-1 in the RMAC last season. During her visit, Tressa said the team was friendly so she believes UCCS will be a good fit.

"We just went to Colorado and the campus was like brand new and it was really nice," she said. "There was not a single thing there. It was just really pretty and mountains are everywhere and I like snow, but not the cold weather."

Tressa's parents, Traye and Lori Radach, are proud of their daughter continuing her softball career at UCCS and will try to attend as many games as possible. The level of coaching at UCCS also helped give Tressa's parents some piece of mind.

"Coach (Scott) Peterson is amazing down there at University of Colorado-Colorado Springs," Lori said. "She's getting a lot of what she got at home from her coaches at home. It's a good fit."

Head softball coach Dave Gregory said that even though Tressa might not be a strong vocal leader she leads with her actions on the field.

When other coaches see Tressa behind the plate stealing bases is eliminated from the gameplan.

"Other coaches just don't run on her after her freshman year," Gregory said. "Nobody steals a base on us and it's amazing."

Now that her choice of college is out of the way, Tressa can set her sights on defending Moses Lake's league and district championship.

"I think we're going to be just as good as we were last year," she said. "I expect us to go to state and we're going to have a solid team. We're going to have some new young players, but I think we're going to be really solid."

Tressa thanked all her coaches, her grandparents, her parents, Gregory, Bob Benson and Greg Gott.
