MATTAWA - There will be some experience on the Wahluke High School girls basketball team, but the Warriors will be short - again.

Brock Anderson, who coached in 2001-2006, is back to lead the Warriors. He expects them to be competitive despite their shortcomings.

"It's too early to say too much," he said.

There are three returning starters from last year, and the tallest is 5-5 junior Maripaz Olivarez. She plays wing.

Also back is 5-2 senior point guard Liliana Ramirez and 5-0 senior guard Dalia Martinez.

Back from the team two years ago is 5-5 senior Cynthia Hernandez. The guard-forward moved away for her junior season.

Rebecca Ramirez, a 5-6 sophomore who saw a little varsity action last year, will be counted on this year.

The Warrior girls will start their season tonight at the Othello Jamboree. They will play at Kittitas tomorrow night and at Goldendale Saturday. They will host Quincy next Tuesday.
