Painting classes at museum this month

MOSES LAKE - Classes in clay and painting will be offered at the Moses Lake Museum and Art Center during December.

Children ages 3 and older can learn some techniques of working with clay by making a stamped clay ornament Saturday. The class is from 3 to 4 p.m. in the museum classroom, 401 South Balsam St. Kids press objects into the wet clay as the basis of the ornament.

Adults are asked to accompany younger kids, and there's a 12-student limit. Erin Stanley is the instructor. Cost is $18 per person, $16.20 for museum members.

Children ages 7 to 12 can learn to paint cats the folk art way in a class from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12. There's a 20-student limit.

Kathaleen McFarland is the instructor. Cost is $20 per child, $18 for museum members.

Women are invited to a "Ladies Day Out" painting flowers, inspired by the works of American artist Georgia O'Keefe, from 9 to 11 a.m., Dec. 14. The class will include information about O'Keefe's life and instruction in her artistic style.

Participants must be 13 and older, and there's a 24-person limit. McFarland is the instructor. Cost is $20 per person, $18 for museum members.
