New Life's Thanksgiving attracts hungry community members
Adults and youths work together to serve the numerous members of the Royal Slope community who attended New Life Fellowship's community Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 24.
ROYAL CITY - New Life Fellowship, the new church in town, genuinely lives up to the meaning of its name.
Sunday, November 24, was a good example. The church invited the entire Royal Slope to a community Thanksgiving dinner and served every individual who attended.
"Thanksgiving is a time to remember many of the things God has done and to acknowledge the ways God continues to work in people's lives," one member said.
The food was prepared by numerous volunteers from New Life who cooked turkeys and made mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casseroles and other side dishes, along with a variety of pies and desserts.
It is estimated there were 13 turkeys. More than 100 people came through the door and participated.
The guests enjoyed special music, with songs sung by Robyn Valdez, Kelcie Rider, Pastor Randal Dick and Callie Scott. There was also a drum performance by Trenton Dorsing.
Some of the youths read Bible verses and shared stories of thankfulness. Susie Stewart also took a few moments to share a touching story.
It was an afternoon of good conversations, good food, and moments of encouragement and inspiration.
This Sunday, Dec. 8, will be the one-year anniversary for New Life Fellowship. You are invited to attend the 10 a.m. Sunday service for a time of celebration and reflection.
"New Life wants to say thank you to the Royal City community for their support in so many ways over this past year," Pastor Dick said.
