Carmen A. Alvarez

Carmen A. Alvarez of Othello, WA passed away and went to Heaven on December 3, 2013 in Kennewick, Washington, at the age of 66.

She was born to the late Jesus & Gertrude Acu–a in Phoenix, Arizona on March 11, 1947, the 2nd child in her family of 9 children. She came to Moses Lake, Washington in 1967 at the age of 20 to attend the Columbia Basin Job Corps. It was in Moses Lake, Washington that she met the love of her life, Henry Alvarez. They were married on February 28, 1970, soon after five children began to fill their home and life, Carmen Sabrina, John Henry, Mary Louise, Natividad and Octaviano.

Carmen began working for Franklin Potato, now Simplot, in 1971, she worked there for more than 42 years. She was an amazing woman; she was generous, beautiful, loving, caring, joyful, dedicated, sweet, kind-hearted, smiley, always happy, humorous and optimistic - as described by her loving children and beloved grandchildren.

Carmen was a very hard worker - inside, and outside of her home. She was always taking care of her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She never complained about anything - she was always happy - she loved and cared for her family deeply and would do anything for them.

She is survived by her husband Henry Alvarez, of Othello, WA; her children Sabrina (Charlie) Tompkins, of Kennewick, WA, John (Lisa) Alvarez, of Othello, WA, Mary Alvarez, of Spokane, WA and Natividad (Stephanie) Alvarez of Moses Lake, WA; three sisters Anita (Max) of Maricopa, AZ, Irene Amaya of Phoenix, AZ and Josie (Manuel) of Chula Vista, CA; two brothers John Acu–a of Chula Vista, CA and Lupe Acu–a of Phoenix, AZ; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Gertrude Acu–a, mother-in-law and father-in-law Natividad and Maria Alvarez, son Octaviano Alvarez in 1975, two brothers Robert and Jesus Acu–a.

She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends, but she will never be forgotten.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 616 E. Juniper St., Othello, WA 99344. Burial will immediately follow in Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello, WA.
