Warden brothers arrested for wire theft

WARDEN – Two Warden brothers are facing several charges associated with the theft of wire from an area farmer. ?

Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call for stolen property at 7156 State Route 17 South on Oct. 30. The victim stated about 1,100 feet of wire valued at over $4,600 had been stolen from an irrigation circle. ?

Statements from witnesses and evidence at the seen led deputies to brothers Cody J. Cole, 27, and Taggart R. Cole, 24. Further interviews with the Cole family revealed Cody and Taggart had been seen by relatives driving a pickup truck which was discovered to have about 120 feet of the alleged stolen wire in the bed.

Deputies also developed evidence from local metal recyclers that Cody Cole had sold them metal on 15 separate occasions in October. ?The investigation was completed just a few days ago and led to several charges.?

Cody Cole was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree theft, third-degree possession of stolen property, second-degree trafficking stolen property, and third-degree malicious mischief.

Taggart Cole was charged with second-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree theft, third-degree possession of stolen property, and third-degree malicious mischief. ?
