Scott Michael Long

| August 30, 2013 6:00 AM

Scott Michael Long from Basin City was born on November 30th, 1977 in Moses Lake and passed away on August 25, 2013 in Moses Lake at an all too young age of 35. Scott was doing what he so often did when called upon, helping a friend.

Scott was the oldest son, the middle child, born to David and Sue Long. He attended twelve years of school in Othello and received his GED from Big Bend Community College. He began changing siphon tubes on the family farm at a young age, learned to drive a tractor and help out where he was needed. He joined the Army National Guard and became a turbine engine certified mechanic. Scott worked various jobs before going to work for Franklin County Public Works in March of 2007. He advanced to become a grader operator and took such pride in the roads he helped to build and the job he did daily. He valued the people he worked with and the friendships that he gained.

July 12, 2007 was the most joyous day in Scott's life, the birth of his precious daughter Karli Sue. No greater gift would he ever receive, nor prouder moment would he share with us all. Karli was his everything. The bond between the two could not help but be witnessed by all who saw them together. She loved her Daddy, and we will keep his memory alive in her heart forever. She is the best part of Scott.

Scott was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents Lee and Ethel Ferguson, his paternal Grandparents Carl and Pearl Long and most recently his Grandpa Jerry Roth. Our comfort comes in knowing that he was greeted by them and welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. Left on this earth to miss him and his exuberant personality are his parents Dave and Sue Long from Othello, his sister Jennifer Goetz and brother in law Kevin from Coulee City, his brother Jonathan from Sierra Vista, Arizona, his Grandma Nancy from Othello, his Aunts and Uncles Carol and Brett Trescott from Spokane, Mike and Chris Roth from Othello, Leon and Carmel Long from Nine Mile Falls, his nephews who he so loved to tease, Kameron, Jared and Luke Goetz, his cousins Jacob and Ryan, John, Jani and Anna, Sam, Alex and Elizabeth and a multitude of friends who loved him unconditionally. Lastly and most importantly, he leaves his beautiful daughter Karli who he loved with every ounce of his being. Our hearts ache that she will no longer have her daddy in her life, but comfort does come that she will remain a part of all of our lives and Scott will live on in each of our lives through our beautiful Karli Sue.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held at 2:00, Friday August 30, 2013 at the Nazarene Church in Othello, Pastor Bob Luhn officiating. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund has been set up in trust for Karli's future education at the Columbia Bank, through the family.

God grant each of us strength, send us your comfort, and reassure us that Scott is at peace. We ask this in your Holy Name. Amen
