Reader thinks World Series lacked audience and advertising

| August 30, 2013 6:00 AM

Last week several communities from around the country packed up their precious cargo of outstanding 14 year old ballplayers. Accompanied by family and friends they journeyed to a little known place called Moses Lake. I'm sure they were filled with excitement and anticipation. After all, these were the all stars of the all stars ready to compete in the Babe Ruth World Series! How often does that happen in a lifetime?

Attention Chamber of Commerce, EDC, and local businesses this was also your time to shine a national audience. Where were you? I saw one sign saying welcome Babe Ruth World Series. The paper didn't have a front page picture until after it was over and the kids went home! Because of lack of advertising the stands were only half full. It was an oportunity to show a captive audience just what our community is all about, my fear is you did.
