MOSES LAKE - Volunteers and donations are still being sought for the second annual "Back-2-School" outreach Saturday, sponsored by Serve Moses Lake.

Back-2-School will be from 10 a.m. to noon at Larson Heights Elementary School, 700 Lindbergh Lane. Children will receive new-to-them school clothes (one bag per child), haircuts for kids in school (K-12) as time allows, backpacks with school supplies for middle school and high school students, and water bottles for elementary students. There's also a giveaway of children's books, a Bible giveaway, live entertainment from the worship band at Sendero Life Center and a barbecue. Games and activities for children are part of the day also, including face painting, a bouncy house and crafts.

Habitat for Humanity, Youth Dynamics and Crossroads Crisis Pregnancy Center will have information booths at the event.

Donations of clothing, school supplies, backpacks and water bottles will be accepted at the Serve Moses Lake office, 422 West Third Ave., Thursday until it closes at 4 p.m. People who want to donate Friday can contact Krissandra Olund at 509-855-8s722, and make arrangements to drop off items at the elementary school, she said.

The school supply donations should be suitable for secondary students - pens and pencils, college-rule paper, highlighters and other items, Olund said.

Volunteers will be setting up at Larson from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Olund said, and organizers are still looking for help with that. Volunteers working on Saturday are asked to attend an orientation session Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larson. Participants should bring a salad or dessert with serving utensils; pizza and drinks will be provided, Olund said. Any additional setup necessary will be completed after the meeting, she said.

All volunteers should be at Larson by 9 a.m. Saturday, according to information from Serve Moses Lake. A cleanup crew is needed for Saturday afternoon, working from about noon to 3 p.m.
