Reserve officers needed in Quincy Police Department

| August 23, 2013 6:00 AM

QUINCY - The Quincy Police Department is accepting applications for reserve officers, and applicants do not have to live in Quincy to be eligible.

According to Sgt. Paul Snyder, the department has a limited number of positions available.

A reserve officer is a non-paid, commissioned position. Those who apply will be required to meet the same standard for acceptance as a full-time commissioned officer.

Once commissioned, the department requires 20 hours per month of a reserve officer' time.

Those who apply should have a strong commitment to community service or be looking to enter the field of law enforcement as a career, Snyder said.

The testing process consists of a physical agility test, oral boards and background check. The physical agility test will be given on Sept. 7.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Sept. 5. They can be obtained at the Quincy Police Department.

If you want more information about this opportunity, contact Snyder at the Quincy Police Department at 509-787-4718 ext. 504.
