MOSES LAKE - Five people were injured when an Ephrata driver attempted to make a U-turn on state Route 17 near Moses Lake and was struck by another vehicle.

About 6:45 p.m. Monday, Allison N. Bair, 23, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, missed a turn heading south on the highway, about seven miles south of Moses Lake. Bair then reportedly pulled to the shoulder and attempted to make a U-turn across the southbound lane.

Her vehicle was struck by a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup heading south, driven by Charles W. Keith, 66, of Pasco, according to the State Patrol.

Bair and her passenger, Mary J. Owen, 21, of Moses Lake, were injured and transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

Keith and the two passengers in his truck, Keva L. Reichert, 51, of Moses Lake, and Joshua D. Lunsford, 22, of Ephrata, were also injured and transported to Samaritan.

All five people involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Patrol.

Bair was cited with failing to yield the right of way.
