Drowning victim from Quincy

| August 21, 2013 6:00 AM

QUINCY - The victim in Sunday's drowning at Quincy Lakes was identified as a 75-year-old Quincy man.

Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison said Wilbert O'Neel drowned Sunday afternoon in the Evergreen Reservoir section of Quincy Lakes.

Morrison said the incident was accidental.

About 1:45 p.m., Grant County sheriff's Search and Rescue divers responded to the lakes after bystanders reportedly heard O'Neel yell for help but could not find him in the water.

His body was later recovered by divers, according to the sheriff's office.

"I feel so sad for this man's family and I pray they can find peace," Sheriff Tom Jones said.
