Eight hurt in two-car crash near Royal

ROYAL CITY - Eight people were injured Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, in a two-car collision about 10 miles west of Royal.

According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, a westbound car on Road 11 SW, failed to stop at the stop sign at Beverly-Burke Road.

That caused a collision with a car northbound on Beverly-Burke Road. The two vehicles collided in the southeast area of the intersection and both ended up off the roadway northwest of the intersection.

Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones did not report the names of the drivers or other individuals in the two vehicles.

At least three of the victims were not wearing seat belts, the GCSO said. One person was ejected.

Unrestrained persons suffered lacerations and back injuries, Jones said. Injuries to others were caused by non-seat belted persons colliding with seat belted occupants.

Four victims were transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center and three to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. One was flown by Northwest Medstar to Kadlec Medical Center in Tri-Cities.
