Moses Lake cake business offers goodies at fair

MOSES LAKE - Basin residents can satisfy their sweet tooth at the Classy & Crazy Cakes food booth at the 2013 Grant County Fair.
This is the first year the Moses Lake business set up at the fair, Rose Day, who was working the booth Thursday afternoon, said. Day's daughter, Donna Jensen, owns Classy & Crazy Cakes.
Day said fairgoers will find a variety of cupcakes and pies at the booth. The booth also features the treat "pie-in-a-jar," she said.
The miniature pies come in a variety of flavors, including Boston Creme and Pumpkin.
The booth's "chocolate-covered" items are by far the most popular items, Day said.
"We have chocolate-covered strawberries, bananas and cheesecake," she said. Customers can also add toppings to their chocolate-covered treats. The booth can accommodate a craving for a chocolate-covered piece of cheesecake with Oreo cookies and whip cream for example, Day said.
For fairgoers looking for a healthier treat, the booth also sells fruit and vegetable cups. Day said Jensen decided to open a fair booth this year to promote her downtown storefront.
"People come in to order cakes, but it's also a store," she said. "There's cupcakes, candies and other treats."
Jensen also wants to increase her presence at other events around town, Day said. Residents will also be able to get Classy & Crazy Cakes treats during the upcoming Babe Ruth Baseball World Series games, she said.
The Classy & Crazy Cakes booth will be open at the Grant County Fair through Saturday. Classy & Crazy Cakes is located at 220 Ash St. in downtown Moses Lake.
