| August 15, 2013 6:00 AM

Raymond Cook, 71, of Moses Lake, WA, passed away on Sunday, August 11 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Ray was born on August 1st, 1942 in Council Bluffs, IA, to the late Maxine and Bart Homan. After attending school he joined the US Air Force, which brought him to Moses Lake. It is here that he found and married his wife, Rose Marie, of 50 years.

He loved hunting, fishing, enjoyed a multitude of outdoor activities in the Columbia Basin, and closely followed NASCAR and sports of all ages. He served as a Reserve Sheriff for Grant County for 6 years, and was a contributor to many local industries, including General Dynamics, Primex, and Busby.

Ray was a prime example of what "love thy neighbor" meant. He would drop whatever he was doing to help a friend in need. His dedication to work ethic and family values is evident in his family.

He is survived by his wife Rose Marie; brothers Bill, Terry and Bob; aunt Ruby; brother in law Sean McCort; daughters Sherrie (husband Ric), Deanna (husband Tony), and son Paul (wife Amanda); grandchildren Lance, Jaclyn, Melissa, Troy, Jennifer, Jarod, William, Chris, Austin, and Caleb; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also fortunate enough to have an extended family of friends, some for over 50 years.

A memorial service will be held at the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake on Friday August 16th at 2 PM, with a luncheon to follow at the CCD Center.
