MOSES LAKE - The 70th annual Moses Lake Roundup Rodeo begins Thursday and runs until Saturday at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

According to Marketing Specialist Sue Tebow, this year's rodeo is expected to be much larger due to more contestants competing for the increased prize money.

Festivities kick off Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with the mutton busters. Other Roundup Rodeo events include bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback, team roping, steer wrestling, tie down roping and barrel racing.

"It's good family entertainment," Tebow said. "Everybody can come out and have some good old fashioned fun."

Rodeo attendees will also be treated to a specialty act this year by freestyle motorcyclist Cody Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh is one of four people in the nation that can do a backflip on a quad motorcycle.

Tebow also said that Cavanaugh will be jumping over some large trucks during his portion of the show.

Professional Rodeo Cowboys Associations's Will Rasmussen will serve as the announcer. According to Rasmussen's website, his announcing style is a combination of knowledge of the sport, sense of humor and quality timing that makes for an enjoyable experience for the audience.

Tickets are available from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the downtown rodeo office located at 1036 W Broadway or online at www.moseslakeroundup.com.

Adult tickets are $15 and child tickets are $5.

The tagline for this year's rodeo is "The Greatest Show on Dirt" and it looks to have all the elements to live up to the claim.
