MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man allegedly assaulted a nurse at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake after he was injured in the rollover crash on South Division Street recently.

Efrain Adame Madrid, 19, was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail Sunday after he was released from Samaritan. While at the hospital, Adame Madrid allegedly assaulted a nurse who was treating him, according to police records.

Adame Madrid was injured when he reportedly drove a stolen van into a Dodge Ram truck that pulled over on South Division. According to police reports, Adame Madrid was heading south in the van on Division when he crossed the center line, striking the Dodge. The van then rolled several times and came to rest on its side.

The driver of the Dodge truck, a 24-year-old man who did not want his name published, said Adame Madrid crossed over into his lane about 100 yards in front of him and he though Adame Madrid might be making a left turn onto East Hill Avenue. Adame Madrid continued past Hill Avenue and the man said he pulled his truck over, onto the curb when Adame Madrid "deliberately" turned into his vehicle.

The man said another truck was parked in front of his vehicle and Adame Madrid would have hit him head-on if it wasn't there.

The man said he thought Adame Madrid was attempting to kill him and he took off running following the crash but returned to the scene when he did not see the suspect.

According to police reports, Adame Madrid had stolen the van from the Moose Lodge leading up to the crash.

Adame Madrid was booked into Grant County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault with sexual motivation, theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving with collision and third-degree driving while license suspended.
