Warden woman dies in motorbike crash

GEORGE - Patricia Reiber-Murphy, the Warden woman involved in a motorcycle wreck Friday near George, died from her injuries.
Reiber-Murphy, 50, was flown by MedStar to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee about 2 p.m. Friday after losing control of her 2001 Yamaha motorcycle on Silica Road Southwest near George. She died at the hospital Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.
According to information from MACC dispatch, Reiber-Murphy received apparent head injuries. Two other motorcyclists ahead of her went to make a left turn onto Vantage Road. Reiber-Murphy apparently did not notice the two others turning. She attempted to swerve to the right and lost control, skidding about 60 feet. Deputies estimated she was driving about 40 mph when she lost control.
"I'm very sorry to learn this and I extend my deepest sympathies to Mrs. Reiber-Murphy's family and friends," Sheriff Tom Jones said. "There have been too many motorcycle collisions in Grant County over the past few months, and I ask motorists and riders to please be careful so we don't have any more tragedies."
Reiber-Murphy was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
The Grant County Sheriff's Motor Traffic Unit was at the scene investigating for about three hours Friday.
