Pratt announced as CBSS head volleyball coach

MOSES LAKE - Columbia Basin Secondary School has a new head volleyball coach.

Soap Lake resident Dean Pratt will take over as head coach of the Phoenix this year. Pratt will be recommended as the new head coach and the decision is pending approval from the school board.

Pratt was a strong choice dude to his numerous years of coaching experience. He was assistant volleyball coach in the Snoqualmie Falls School District for nine years.

"I think it's a real awesome situation for us to be able to pull in somebody with that kind of experience and that kind of character and demeanor to come into our school," Athletic Director Loren Sandhop.

Pratt also has experience coaching club volleyball and is Gold Medal Squared certified as a coach.

Also, he was an assistant coach for the Mt. Si High School varsity volleyball team and coached basketball for Chief Kanim Middle School in Fall City.

Pratt, who resides in Soap Lake, moved about a year ago and owns a construction company.

The previous coach, Terri Pixlee decided to resign from the position. According to Sandhop, she was looking for a break from the head role.

"She was hoping that somebody could fill the gap and luckily we found Dean," Sandhop said.

Pixlee will continue to teach for the Moses Lake School District and coach golf for CBSS.
