James "Jim" Leonard Byers

James "Jim" Leonard Byers, 80, of Moses Lake, WA died Monday, August 5, 2013 in Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake, WA. Jim was born March 20, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Leonard and Bernice (Menson) Byers.

Jim graduated from Detroit Country Day School in Detroit, MI. After high school, he attended Wayne University and on November 9, 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served honorably until his discharge on November 8, 1956. Just prior to his discharge from the U.S. Army, he married Roberta Stelling on August 4, 1956 in Tacoma, WA and they had three children Matthew W., Blair L. and Mark James Byers.

Jim and Roberta later divorced in 1979. Jim became a Certified Public Accountant and began his career in finance. Jim worked as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Later in 1979, he married Bonnie Moser. Jim and Bonnie then moved to The Dalles, OR where he worked as Chief Financial Officer for Mid Columbia Medical Center until he retired in 1996, when he and Bonnie moved to Ocean Park, WA where they lived until 12 years ago when they moved to Moses Lake, WA.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie of Moses Lake, WA; children: son Matthew and wife Sarah Byers and their children Katie and Kyle; daughter Blair and husband John Tamngin and their children Rachael, Sean, Ian and Shane, all of Wenatchee, WA; son Mark and wife Kim Byers and their son Zachery of Adams, TN; stepchildren Ron Moser and his children Krissy and Brett; Donna Taylor and her children Seth and Tiffany and her grandchildren Diamond Taylor and Drake Radach, all of Moses Lake, WA; one sister Virginia and husband George Wagner of Carmel, IN; and numerous nieces nephews and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Bernice Byers.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2013 in New Beginnings Christian Center, 318 W. Northshore Dr., Moses Lake, WA with Dr. Paul Wagner of Assured Hospice officiating, and Military Honors provided by the U.S. Army, Army National Guard and the American Legion Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Grant County Animal Outreach in Jim's memory.
