Career hiring event still has room for employers

| August 8, 2013 8:27 AM

MOSES LAKE — Space is limited for employers at the Big Bend Community College Career Placement Center’s Fall Hiring Event. The event provides a networking space for employers with current openings and job seekers.

Last year, the event saw about 900 possible employees pass through, Ken Russel, BBCC Career Placement Coordinator, said. Russel expects to have employers of the retail, industrial, manufacturing and health sectors hiring at the event. He said the Fall Hiring Event, and other hiring events BBCC hosts like the Career Fair, is a great opportunity to meet with potential employees or employers.

This is the fifth Fall Hiring Event and organizers hope it will continue to grow in size and diversity.

The Fall Hiring Event is not as big as the annual Career Fair, said BBCC Public Information Officer Doug Sly. Many attendees of the Fall Hiring Event are looking for work during the holiday season. He said many students and retailers attend. Any foot in the door could lead to full-time and long-term employment, encouraged Sly.

Registration deadline for businesses is Sept. 26 and costs $75. Fee includes your company name on all printed event advertising, table with covering and chairs, wireless Internet and power access and continental breakfast. The event is free to job seekers.
