Scam warning: Sheriff not asking for donations

EPHRATA - Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones is warning the public to be on guard for a person calling and seeking donations for the sheriff’s office.
It’s not real. It’s a scam. ?
“The Grant County Sheriff’s Office does not phone people asking for donations,” Jones said. “We also don’t solicit donations over email or social media.” ??
Jones became aware last week that a Moses Lake area-citizen received a call from a man saying he was from the sheriff’s office and asking for a donation. ?
People are reminded to contact their local law enforcement agency if they believe they have been the target or victim of a scam.
